The Public Gallery

Paul has brought together 6 ordinary Kiwis to see how much attention they're paying to this year’s campaigns, how well messages are hitting and how much influence the media has on their voting decisions - it's the election through the eyes of the voter, not the media. In Hamilton West there's Art - a writer who feels electioned out and disconnected from local politicians. In Te Tai Tonga, Scout is chairperson of a Kohanga Reo who is concerned about the cost of living. In Dunedin, student Sam has serious concerns about the proliferation of disinformation pushers in democracy. In New Lynn, we have the One Up Podcast host Sarah, who knows she needs to connect more to politics but still feels alienated by it. Back in Hamilton West we have Kelli, a local access media personality who knows local body politics but general elections she's out of the loop of. and in Hamilton East we have Dan, who will have a new MP no matter what after both incumbents decided to retire this election.

Note: Waikato iwi have a unique writing style as they use double vowels not macrons. In respect to Waikato iwi we have adopted this standard of writing where Te Reo is used on the site.
