Free FM wants to hear and share your audio across the Waikato and beyond. We are looking for short audio pieces made here in the Waikato to share on air and online as part of a new programme launching in 2023. Submit your audio for a chance to win a RØDE NT-USB MINI microphone.

Experiment with making content, without the pressure to make something longform or long term. You can work in any format or genre – interviews, sound art, documentaries, fiction, you name it!

What – An audio piece, either 6, 12 or 24 minutes long, supplied as mp3 format saved at 192kbps or higher.

Who – The contest is open anyone based in the Waikato. Each individual or group can enter as many submissions as they like.

When – The deadline for this contest is noon (NZST), 10 December 2022.

How – Use the submission form to upload your piece.

Submit your audio for a chance to win a RØDE NT-USB MINI microphone and have your work broadcast on Free FM 89.0 and podcast on all your favourite podcast platforms care of Free FM. Read the terms and conditions here.

Can I use recorded music or sound effects in my piece?
We look after music licensing for Free FM broadcasts, so it’s fine to use someone else’s material (eg. for music or sound effects) but make that clear in your entry so we know.
